Betfred Championship Round Up | Round 10

Round 10 of the Betfred Championship sees a new leader at the top of table, with Toulouse, Halifax and Bradford all level on 14-points apiece.

Toulouse have leapfrogged Halifax into top spot following their convincing win over Oldham on Saturday.

An Olly Ashall-Bott hattrick inspired the French side to victory, but the Roughyeds displayed character and went down fighting – and at one point reduced the deficit to just six points.

Toulouse proved too strong on Saturday afternoon, however, and have sealed their fourth win on the spin heading into a week off for Sylvain Houles’ men, as the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup semi-finals take place next Sunday.

Oldham, on the other hand, will look to bounce back in time for their semi-final tie against Featherstone.

And on Sunday, Featherstone Rovers gained confidence and momentum ahead of their semi-final clash next weekend, with a big win against Widnes.

Fev made a fast start, opening the scoring through Connor Wynne after he finished off a break from Clay Webb.

The visitors then asserted their dominance with two quick-fire tries from Derrell Olpherts and Bailey O’Connor, racing into a 16-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes.

Widnes gradually found their feet to make a contest of it, but two late tries from the Rovers rounded off a compelling victory. Ryan Hampshire finished off a move from deep, before O’Connor grabbed his second of the afternoon by intercepting Tom Gilmore’s floating pass.

Kyle Eastmond’s Halifax slumped to back-to-back defeats for the first time in 2025 as Doncaster came to town and roared to a stunning victory at The Shay.

Edene Gebbie continued his prolific Championship scoring streak in the first half, while Connor Robinson's converted penalty secured the Dons a lead at the break.

Further tries in the second forty from Robinson, Luke Briscoe and Watson Boas, as well as six successful kicks from Robinson, made sure Richard Horne’s side took an emphatic victory.

The Panthers slip down to second place, as a result.

The Bulls then battered the Bulldogs to go joint top and make it five straight wins on the spin - with eight different players getting on the scoresheet.

Bradford now occupy third place in the table and all focus will switch their 1895 Cup semi-final tie with York and ensuring a genuine shot at silverware.

And opponents York will also be geared up for the semis following a huge win over bottom of the table Hunslet.

Ben Jones-Bishop starred with four tries whilst Scott Galeano and debutant Toa Mata’afa both scored doubles as the Knights cruised to victory and picked up the two points on home soil.

Over in the capital, there was a close contest between London and Sheffield – with Sheffield pipping the win, despite a late London try by Louix Gorman to set up a frantic finish.
